Summary:

  • First Structural Engineer
  • Reports to Head of Product Engineering
  • 15 person Engineering Team

We are seeking a licensed Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design, analysis, and certification of our building systems. In this role, you will be responsible for developing engineered solutions, preparing and stamping structural drawings, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems meet performance, manufacturing, and safety standards aligned with our mission to build homes in a scalable way.

Responsibilities:

Structural Design & Certification

  • Perform structural analysis, load calculations, and material selection.
  • Prepare and stamp structural drawings and documents in accordance with state and local requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Provide engineering oversight and technical guidance to internal teams and external partners.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and calculations.

Testing, Validation & Optimization

  • Oversee structural testing to validate safety and performance.
  • Refine and optimize designs based on testing, field feedback, and evolving requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and scalability of structural systems.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to stamp drawings in one or more U.S. states (multi-state licensure preferred, CA required)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in structural engineering
  • Strong knowledge of structural design principles, materials science, and applicable building codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities.

Desired:

  • Experience on residential or modular construction.
  • Proficiency in CAD and structural analysis tools such as OnShape, SolidWorks, Revit, RISA, SkyCiv, SAP2000 or equivalent.
  • Experience with project coordination tools such as Notion or Confluence
